What is Mandevilla?
Mandevilla is named after an 18th century British diplomat and gardener Henry Mandevilla. It is a native of Central and South America and comes mainly from an area in Brazil
Mandevilla and Dipladenia are synonymous with each other and are part of the family Apocynaceae, common name Brazilian Jasmine. Species are likely to be splendens and sanderi hybrids.
This species is an ever green and semi evergreen, or deciduous, woody-stemmed twinning climbers, grown for their large trumpet-shaped flowers and glossy green foliage.
Mandevilla is very well suited to the English climate and our trials over the last 5 years have proved this wonderful plant performs very well in heat and in a typically wet English summer.
